[Futurelandia] The Thanksgiving and Early December Post

[ It's been around a month since everything started to change. And frankly, a damn sure more things have changed even in that month. There's simplistic ones, such as Masaomi getting a vasectomy which even if he tried to keep it on the downlow, everyone found out about because of what a whiner he was for his week of medical abstinence and everyone felt after that for how he proceeded to fuck every relevant woman in the house and who would sleep with him out of the house into submission for the next two or three days. Everyone sort of had a rude awakening there.

But then, some changes were bigger and more serious. A new member joined there pack (Veroncia) not all that long ago, and it was much to everyone except some of the adult's surprise. Everyone had to learn their new pecking order and where she fit in with the rest of them. Masaomi and Nariko continued their rituals and continued their seeing other people, to mixed results from both. Audrey was hanging around the house more, though she hadn't had the recommended Talk with Masaomi about joining, despite making this something of a second home for her. And of course, Junko's training continued despite the week long hiatus from it.

Everyone was changing, and everyone was adapting. Yamato even had a sexy car now. And at the culmination of everything, a sort of milestone in the midst of everything, there was Thanksgiving, the lead up to it, and the follow up after it leading into December. A time when a lot of people hung out in one house, and then things got weirdly tense for a variety of reasons. God bess us, every one. ]

[She answers him by literally shoving her hand in his face, it's her weird way of kind of playfully knocking at him because, wow, that was a bad joke. She looks around and finds the little lounge space, one of those kinds that is often left in the middle of a huge mall so people can take a break.] We're almost done, we can stop for a second.

[So deal with your fly, Yamato, while she straightens out your shirt a little, and then tries to fix her hair. It only just barely helps her get rid of the freshly fucked look, but something is better than nothing.]

... I can't believe we did that. They were - watching! [A part of her wanted to ask why but that would be a stupid question, so.]

[ . . . He - ] I know, I know! Sorry!

[ He's apparently still quick to apologize. Even as he's fixing his fly and trying to get his pants on right and fixing his shirt... He doesn't bother with his hair, but he does look apologetic at her. Even if that joke did go over okay and that sounded right. ... He should get her bags ]

That's not what I mean it wasn't. That bad. [Not entirely. She's have liked it better if someone hadn't had a phone or whatever.] Besides, I'm the one that got all excited, it was my fault.

[Junko's still holding everything so if he wants to take the bags from her then he'll have to initiate it on his own since she doesn't see anything wrong with holding them.]

[ He says this a little sheepishly. And he finally reaches out to tug on the bags. He doesn't focus on the idea of it being her fault or it not being bad beyond reassuring smile, and takes the bags in hand for her. Or at least, intends to ]

I know. [And, seriously, he doesn't need to take the bags but since he's insisting on it she lets it happen, and ends up with the lighter ones. What a jerk. Being a gentlemen and all that. Although she would have liked it if he had maybe agreed that it was good or something. Well, whatever.]

[So they deserve a new gaming system.]

[Is he asking her which games she might want? She's having a moment ~~or the player is but whatever~~ don't blame her Yamato.]

[ A beat ] We might be better off just going games for him though.

You don't think he'd kick up a fuss about that? [They're getting everyone pretty expensive stuff, even though the games themselves were pretty expensive she couldn't help wondering if Koji might feel left out.]

Also, I want Yoshi's Woolly World. And Mario Maker after that.

He might, but worst comes to worst we can get him some movie tickets for him and Veronica. He'd never think of a date.

Probably not the best kind of life to live, either. And she does remember how utterly bad Yamato is about dates, Junko had to hear about it from her friend, after all.

But she decides not to get into that because they're in front of Gamestop, and she agrees with his game choice.]

I'm gonna kick your ass at Splattoon. [She ... Probably won't, but Junko will try, and she can be a little competitive.]

[ For real. ... Also he doesn't mention Splatoon is multiplayer over online only he's pretty sure. But worst comes to worst they can borrow Fred's Wii U and play that way. Or they can compete for score. Or something. Still - ]

[Wait, seriously? She thought it was at least a two player game! What kind of bullshit is online only multiplayer? For goodness sake, that's horrid. .... But it did look cute. And she didn't want to rely on Fred who was. Interesting in the first place.]

Only because he kept bitching at me about how much I sucked, I had to get better or else I couldn't play with him.

[ Let's get into the store already. ... Also what's bad about Fred! Fred's his best friend! Okay, he'll go to bat for him! Probably! Either way, once inside they need to get their Wii U and their games and decide if they're getting Koji games or a system or new hardware or some combination of others. Either way, two games if they're both mainstream ones'll still be over a hundred dollars on the boy (okay like sixty each, still) s...o. Good enough! Maybe. ]

[She has no desire to police Koji's relationship but ... They're both older siblings in that respect. It only seems right to keep an eye on things since Koji isn't so emotionally aware of himself yet. Veronica really seems to love him, and it'd be a shame if he fucked up a good thing for himself. But! The store is a bit of a madhouse and when she sees the price for Koji's games she decides, yeah, he can live without a new Xbox One.

They get their Wii U and games which is a whole other chunk of change, even split between them. Still, she's excited to see the box and be able to touch it. It's theirs! They can play on it again! She's really so excited about it. Getting their dad's gift is actually quite easy as Junko had it reserved, they only need to go in and split the cost for that too, and then breeze right out.

So the only one left is ... Their mother!]

[ Yamato can't help but feel it's been a while since he saw Junko in such high spirits. It's sort of nice, actually, and he grins a little as they leave with their dad's tablet, indulgences for the whole family and themselves in hand ]

For the record, I am not treating you to five star food for all this, after the bank's broke.

[ He says this sheepishly, But... where's mom's gift ]

[Come to think of it, she can't remember the last time she was this happy, either! Although she pouts when he mentions that.] I wanted to go to the grill place that has the creme brûlée, though!!

[If you had to name one thing that made Junko Kida unbelievably happy then it was that one, gorgeous, perfectly sweet, thick treat. Granted the place was in the mall and not at all five star but it could be a little above average the normal price range for mall food. Still, she appears to get over it rather quickly.

In the meantime she leads them to a whole other part of the mall. It's a little quieter here because this is where all the really expensive stores are. And the one they want is at the very end in a corner, with a simple blue banner, Junko points up to it.]

Tiffany's is mom's holy place, and you could argue that it's the rightful place of worship for any girl with an awareness of brand names, Yamato. Remember that shade of blue, it's distinctive.

[But in they can go! And when they do ... One of the salesgirls immediately recognizes Junko.

[ . . Um - ] Okay we can splurge for that, depending on the ring?

[ ... his sister has expensive tastes too, doesn't she. Come to think of it, where does she get the money to pay off her credit cards. It's true he's generally just mooched his parents but dad wouldn't okay some of the purchases of her gifts over the years...

... Oh well. He blinks as he comes inside, and he nods, trying to treat this with reverence and gravitas ]

[Junko was a little different in that she only wanted the occasional expensive thing every so often! And more often than not she greatly preferred to buy it for herself. When people gave her extravagant things it made her feel as if she owed them. But in answer to his question? She's won a lot of money over all those debate competitions and science fairs and ... It's totally dorky but she makes blog layouts and shit for people on the internet and all that. Her rates are above average but she's also really good at it. So.

Anyway, they make their way through and Junko and the salesgirl - Tiffany, because of course - talk idly as they go to the back counter. Junko asks to have her mother's ("Mrs. Kida") favorites brought out. It's an incredibly upscale place but Junko sets all the bags down anyway, and eyes trail over to a delicate looking necklace with a single pearl pendant.

.... Goddammit, it's so gorgeous. But not worth maxing out her formidable credit limit.] Ah, here we go!

[There are four items laid out rather delicately a little velvet board. Two are necklaces, but the other two? One is a silver ring, and the other is a pure rose gold ring.]

That's it, her size and everything. [The silver variant is more or less the same without the diamond, so!

.... Excuse Junko while she has a moment over that necklace okay. Goddammit why is jewelry so expensive!!! She's too frugal for this!]

What're the necklaces?

[ He asks this, more to distract himself than anything else. He wants to reach out and touch the ring, to examine it. Now that he's in this moment, now that he's in front of the ring and seeing Junko geek out... well, he's not dumb. He can tell it's gorgeous and he can tell also that it's expensive. Mom really would go gaga over it. ... He swallows, and he glances over at Junko some more.

[He's free to touch it as he likes! Tiffany of Tiffany's makes sure to gently point this out. It's her job to pay attention and just make sure customers don't run off with things but Mrs. Kida's come in a lot, so she kind of trusts the kids to not be hooligans and steal incredibly expensive jewelry.

Junko doesn't even look up from the necklace, but she does answer.] Mom's? One is like three thousand and the other is seventy-five hundred, so don't even think about it.

[She finally looks up, though somewhat reluctantly and comes to point out the silver ring.] This one's only two-fifty, it's not any better or worse than getting four video games.

[But there's a mild 'please don't be exactly like dad' kind of hint in her voice. She doesn't believe in useless spending and she's worked hard for her own money but people also deserve nice things! She believes that very firmly. ]

[ . . . ] Holy shit, like - how did she even pick those out?

[ ... Shit.

Also okay Tiffany, he feels bad to get his fingerprints on this, but he's going to pick up mom's gold ring and examine it. But he can see that expression from Junko and he wants to ask "okay, but then why did she have it set aside..." but he doesn't comment on that. He instead looks it over and frowns. You know, if he's getting that, what's he going to get Audrey or Junko? ... Shit he didn't figure out something for Audrey at all. He denied the one Junko offered him. He'll ask at Dinner?

... ] You know, Junkp, should you go run most of these things to my car?

Mom wears five hundred dollar heels, Yamato. [Their mother is an incredibly expensive woman, it's beyond fucking insane, even Junko thinks so. But the one upside was that Nariko rarely expected anyone to give her much of anything when it was so frivolous. She planned on buying all of these things for herself at some point or another, so that Junko would have helped Yamato would be an added layer of thoughtfulness to the whole thing.

She looks at him funny, ready to object but she shrugs.] I guess so?

[Considering how the mall looped around, it'd be easy to get to his car (if he parked where he usually did) to drop everything off.] Give me your keys, then.

[Why does he want her to leave? Even if he goes with the cheap option she's going to find out one way or the other.]

[ . . . Still.

But oh well, he swallows and shakes his head. ] It'd just save us time later, I can finish up.

[ and he does rummage in his pockets to hand over the keys to his car. ... and once Junko is out of the are he goes to check the price on her necklace with the pearl she was looking at. He decides if it's less than the ring for Nariko, he'll get it. He puts this in the hand of fate. Or Triffany.

Either way, he'll make the purchase of the ring, or the ring and the necklace to meet her back by the door where his car was parked ]

Well I mean down the line but still. also her finding her mate would be fun
