The dedication though, he didn't write that until they got home from the trip with Nathan and Amelia's grave, and shipped it out to publish a promo copy that same day they got back.

It's a picture that him, Nariko, the infant Yamato, and the still traumatized but recovering Ada all took back when the pack truly began. In some ways, it's nostalgic, but the more interesting and weird part of the gift is that there's a digital watch down there, counting up. It's counted up sixteen years and a few months, days, hours, and seconds. Given she's a math genius, she might be able to connect that it's counting up from the moment that picture was taken. He had to fiddle with it (or well, get someone else to) in order to get it set up like that but... ]
