[There was an incredible feel of satisfaction involved in all of this, a heady sort of joviality that she hadn't quite felt since before Fred's father died. And, in a sense, it was only right. Charlotte's Alpha had always been her mate and before that it was her father, so while she worked underneath an entirely different one now there was no close relationship, no sense of real loyalty. They lived away from the main house of their pack, she rarely had to talk to Sawyer about much of anything.
But that same satisfaction was present here, a nostalgic glow that made it easy to fall into a kiss, all kinds of eager and giving. Despite how weak she feels Charlotte followed his lead and reached one hand up to rest behind his neck.
