[ Their pack's Christmas tended to be one which was full and chaotic, despite the fact that there were increasingly less children in the house as Yamato and Junko (and yes, Koji too) all grew to maturity. In some ways, this was actually more "kids" than had been in the house for it than in a long time, what with their new additions.

Still: Masaomi, Nariko, Ada, Sullivan, Emily, Octavio, Tom, Yamato, Junko, Koji, Veronica, and Audrey - Twelve people with at least one gift for everyone else, often times more in the case of those who were more generous or had deeper pockets or more to impress others with. The sheer number (even if it had grown over time) is probably what prompted them to set up a grate tree in one of the living room spaces which was probably meant to be a formal dining room and then lay out all the presents from everyone wrapped up under it andt hen sprawled out for a wide area around it all. There's chairs set up in a circle around the room to give everyone room to sit and the first one there (Which if, of course, Masaomi) brought bags for the wrapping paper to go into a recycle.

Also Masaomi has on a santa hat and a fake beard. Both of which Ada picked out years ago, and he wears mostly out of tradition. It's similarly out of tradition that he got up at the ass crack of dawn to sit in the room and eat some rice before anyone else got up, wait for them all to filter on in here usually starting with Ada or Sullivan or in recent years his eldest son so people can start to make breakfast and be ready. But either way, breakfast and present opening in the morning! A white elephant gift exchange game in the afternoon! A big dinner in the evening!

Christmas is a time of togetherness, where there has to be some structure, but there's a lot which can happen beyond all that and often did. Movies watched, songs sung, and even if this year of different and strange for a variety of reasons... well. It was still their day, and everyone would enjoy it. ]

Maria's got an unbelievably pretty face and her skin is pleasantly, nicely bronzed, but she's probably get the smallest set of tits - which works very well for someone who has to run around a lot.]

Good. [She hands him the laptop (without realizing that some of the pictures Ethan would have on his phone were transferred to her computer) to let him look at what he wants.] Not bad for possibilities, right?

[Pictures of everyone, no matter who their names are ~~because it really was Selina not Maria GOSH~~. Though to be fair Junko does have something of a little photography streak, she's clearly taken a lot of pictures of a lot of the major people in their school - the football captain, the student government president, people that they might be around but she wouldn't actually know on a personal level.

[ He had. Fred was his best friend, yes, but by any objective measure, it wasn't because of a special connection between them or anything, it was just because of the fact they were partners and talked with each other more than anyone. Yamato wasn't exactly unsociable and no one really had anything bad to say about him but not a lot of people had that much good to say about him either. Junko's image of her brother from when she was younger might've been that he was cool and dependable - and maybe to an extent he was - but that image never gave him a big group of lasting friends. It only worsened in high school, following a handful of really bad attempts to ask three or four girls out (including Isabella, whose photo he lingers on as a result) making him known as a bit of a loser among his year.

So yeah, he'd stuck with tennis a lot. He also had one or two friends among the swimmers just due to overlap. ]

I... guess? Hahah... something like that.

Well.

[She thinks about Ethan, suddenly, and the thing that happened with Sullivan, that she planned to leave her father's pack when she was sixteen to go and be with Ethan's, whether it made sense or not.] It's good to change things, with time, y'know?

[Audrey, too. She almost wants to hide her whole face in his chest. God, she hates thinking about the past year, and she hates the last few months especially.]

[ He keeps flipping through the photos - ... Oh, some of these are of him, practicing! That's sort of interesting, all things considered. Yamato hums a bit at it, but he smiles, giving her a nice squeeze. Something affectionate to show that he does care! And while that tone was a little sarcastic... he was in agreement with her, and it was genuinely something he admired her for concluding. Change needed to happen, huh.

He'll feel bad for being oblivious to her year later probably if he ever learns of it ]

[God, considering half the stupid shit she's considered, how scattered and weird it's all been Junko would feel so, so much better if no one ever know the entire set of details. Ethan would have his pieces, Audrey would have hers, and Yamato, too. But none of them would really think to put it together and even though that was wrong, even cruel of her in a sense, she couldn't bear anything else. It did kind of suck that she couldn't really trust any of them one hundred percent, but that's an inbred fear she's resigned herself to. It's nothing entirely new.

But right now it's Christmas Day. Everything feels pretty damn good, and she gives into her desire to just close her eyes beside Yamato and rest. That's probably not the sexy option, but she can't help it. Being a slut is exhausting.]

[As soon as its in her hands she shuts it and tries to put it off to the side. Jumpy is an apt description, and she only softens a bit when he offers to help her. Of course he would be gentler and more concerned about the issue but is that really enough? At the end of the day she couldn't help thinking Yamato wouldn't understand why she had felt such a need to be seen as special by someone - anyone at the time.]

I don't want his help whether he can give it or not.

[He wouldn't offer it. He'd be a jerk and just react, he wouldn't ask her how she felt or take any of that into consideration. He was too busy being fair for any of that.]

Sorry. [Yamato didn't deserve the venom that she had said those words with, especially since they weren't directed at him. She tries to smile and gives him another kiss, but she doesn't reassure in the least. Junko's usually a pretty strong girl, but right now she doesn't have the self awareness to tell Yamato that sometimes you do have to work things out of people - generally for their own good.

This is definitely one of those times, so it's a shame his source of pragmatism is also the one who needs that treatment.]

But Yamato didn't order her, he didn't ask, so she's not going to talk about it. The dangers of being passive. And he really gets that from their father. Junko can't stand it.]
