Probably Minun or Plusle, they tend to tag out when his father wasn't doing a two way battle. The real tests would have been his Raichu and his Rotom. And then, of course, his mother.
The whole thing plays out before him, and he finds a new respect for Cubone. Still... He smiles, petting behind her head, on her neck. Her shoulders and down them, moving overtop of the robe at first. He's not sure where to pet a human.
