[Midlandia] Just One Note

[A series of events occurred which were incredibly important and ultimately life changing.

But frankly her attention span was always rather limited. What really mattered above all else was that she and Nathan were free, and it didn't require Vergil's scolding or leaving the country. They had been adopted into this pack with considerably minimal fuss. They had a roof, food, and a way to get to and from school. The best part was that there was no one to hit her anymore, no more getting thrown left and right into walls or furniture, and Nathan no longer had to hear all the yelling and insults. They could be living in a high class sewer and Nariko would still be happy.

And while she'd made her gratuity very clear to the Alpha she's been otherwise quite normal! Nariko had survived the state of things because she knew how to control herself, how to present properly. So ever since they'd been given their space she'd gone about meeting everyone she could, being both agreeable and fun, while Nathan clung to her side the whole time.

Lately, though, he's been feeling a little more like himself. On this particular day she's sprawled all over the couch while Nathan watches some movie directly in front of her. If she's supposed to give a single crap about her tiny shorts or tank top then ... Actually, no, why would she? It hasn't occurred to Nariko to dress or act differently, especially because there's so many women. Besides, she's kind of idly watching it with him or occasionally toying with her phone, and really she'd practically beg for something fun to do. Ugh.]

[ Masaomi carefully plants his hand on top of Nariko's hand on Mikado's head, keeping the other boy stuck against her chest and thereby unable to reply. He does this subtly, hoping that she won't notice what he's doing because of the intimate contact of her hand covered in his. He licks his lips, and then lans in to give her a peck. He pulls back and, ]

Nari-chan, I'm the great Love Hunter Mass, there's no challenge that I can't overcome, be it with the inexperienced or the complicated. But to begin with, I'm pretty sure we all hold hands and all share some kisses, you might even get to see my main man and me lock lips.

[ That wasn't going to help his case, but still, a first date is important! Even if he's sort of selling his friend into a weird spontaneous threesome, but still. ]

We went from talking about a date to buying each other stuff.

[If she focused on that then Nariko could ignore that he had somehow realized that buying her stuff was a good tactic. He could really deal with being a little stupider, but if he was then she probably wouldn't like Masaomi at all.]

You should at least ask Mikado, though.

[And since neither of them was going to help her out any Nariko could just touch herself! She knew how to use her fingers jut fine, after all.]

[ They were still negotiating, okay! And the positions weren't good for this - he was to her side wit hhis hand pressed on top of Mikado's skull, who was sort of leaned over her to suck her tits, pulled away from the conversation by the force of both other players. So to have her just go and play with herself like that...

He points a finger at her scoldingly ]

No, no, it's a memory of a promise, Nari-chan! Everyone knows a first date ought to have a special momento! Consider that a life lesson from one more experienced!

You're getting very serious about this.

[She'd have never guessed that this was what struck a chord in the guy. But as if to reassure him she kisses the tip of his finger.] Relax, I'll -

[Not continue that sentence.]

[Because that's her brother, kind of stumbling down the steps because he's trying to not open his eyes and go down the stairs all at once.]

Nathan?! [Sorry Mikado, she's pushing at your head, you're gonna have to stop!]

[ Wow what a cockblock? He was just getting in the mood! Or well, Masaomi was, Mikado is more than halfway there as he pops his lip off her nipple and sits up, looking around for his glasses- oh, there they are. He puts them on and turns n the direction the voice came from. Masaomi does the same, also calling back in that direction as he makes to sit up past Nariko, ]

Nate-kun?

[ Mikado, meanwhile, just stands silently, so all three can be naked and standing ]

Sorry, [Even with his eyes closed Nathan's smart enough to figure out he's interrupted something ... The weird sucking noises really tipped him off.] I left my books down here and I have to study.

[Mikado and Masaomi might as well be on Venus or something because she gets up and hikes her shorts and top back on. Her bra is still thrown somewhere but it doesn't matter, she finds the stack of books without a lot of effort, they were slightly behind the couch.]

No, it's okay! Here. [Even though she's dressed Nariko doesn't ask him to open his eyes, she just puts the books in his hands, and then helps him turn around.] Next time just yell if you need me, okay?

[Nathan doesn't stop going up the stairs, he just quips.] You can't hear me over all the weird noises.

[And if that wasn't guilt inducing then nothing in the world was. Nariko rubbed the back of her neck, watching him go up until she was sure that he'd gone back to his room.]

Masaomi. [Something important has actually occurred to her, so she looks at him very seriously.] Don't get Nathan into any of this 'gang' stuff, alright?

[It actually wasn't a request.]

[ The two watch the scene, her standing and going to get the books, hike up the shorts, and comfort her a little. The way that she went for it... Well, it was cute, cute but also a little alarming. The both of them also chime in now as h's making to go, Masaomi giving a thumbs up to cal after her, ] Don't worry, you can count on us too!

[ But as for the follow up she gives... ]

Why not?

Because Nathan actually thinks that the world is a nice place. Bad stuff happens, but to him it all works out in the end. Nothing is completely scary yet, and he's got all his dreams and his hopes and his faith that there's good in the world. I want him to stay that way for as long as possible.

[Of course it'l only be temporary, everyone had to grow up and deal with stuff. But the thing is - the concern that Mikado might have somewhat grasped - that he might get into stupider shit by hanging around with boys older than him, that had understandably different views of the world.]

If you try to get him involved in that then I'll forget that the both of you even exist.

[Or she'll beat the shit out of them. One is much easier to contend with than the other.]

Eeeeh... aren't you making me sound a lot spookier than I am here, Nari-chan? It'd be good to give him a people to hang out with it's not like there's anyone else here his age...

[ There was them and then Rin who was a good ten years younger than them, so younger even than Nathan at about five. Still, even as Masaomi says this somewhat defensively, not knowing why this needs to be such a serious moment, Mikado elbows him in the stomach and shakes his head, causing Masaomi to lurch a bit. ]

Seriously, he's not a bad guy. But we won't let him into the whole gang thing he's got cooked up, don't worry.

It has nothing to do with being bad or good, and I'm not saying he shouldn't hang out with either of you.

[Because Masaomi is right when it comes to the matter of age, and Nathan probably does need to be around actual boys instead of his sister all day and night.] I'm just saying that he's really eager and he gets out of hand easily. I've already had to save him once, I just want to avoid it a second time.

[Even though she couldn't imagine anyone in this pack hurting them, it was still better to be cautious. Maybe when Nathan was a little older and they had both fully assimilated into this house, it'd be different. But for right now it's a hard 'no'. It also sounds like she's far more worried about what Nathan might do, versus what Masaomi and Mikado might choose to get into.]

Anyway, that's it! Let's watch something else!

[She's as happy to change the topic as they had been when she mentioned them possibly kissing.]

[ There is a lot of whiplash here. That said, the boys are still naked and given her mood apparently shifted... well, then they should collect their pants, right? Also that whole speech sort of implied it was a bad or good thing... but Masaomi won't press the point. Mikado gives her a harder look in the aftermath, as if trying to see through her to appraise what she meant. But ultimately, he drops it. Instead he blinked and nodded.

Something to watch, huh?

they both almost forgot they were watching something in the first place. ]

Mikado, why don't you pick it?

[ Eeeh? He looks incredulous, but then nods, going to pick something else for them to watch by way of looking for the remote and going to the main menu. ]

[Well, it's not like either of them tried to jump her and having to talk about all that did put a wet blanket over her enthusiasm. She has no objection to Mikado picking, and Nariko takes up a spot between the both of them again. She really wants to cuddle or do something but it's better to just keep her hands to herself. Dinner should be coming up soon and then they'll be free until tomorrow. She and Nathan will be starting school tomorrow, so any distraction from that is a positive one.

It'll probably be a nice afternoon either way. She really does like them.]

[ For the record, once they got their pants back on, while Mikado sat there not opposing but alos not initiating any cuddle or contact, Masaomi reached an arm over to pull Nariko in closer to him, and after a tongue out at Mikado urged him in too. What Mikado picked out for them to watch was an old gerne show (well, "old," more like five years ago, which isn't that old but seems like an eternity when you're fourteen and by the end of the episode before dinner they were likely joined by Masaomi's older brother Basara, who sat in one of the armchairs and appraised them while watching silently.

And yes, dinner came before the 45 minute episode finished.

But it was a nice afternoon. ]

[Masaomi gets a little bit of a pout for being so brazen .... But she's also rather quick to lean into him and get comfortable, and when Mikado is teased she just outright tugs on his arm. It's probably difficult, but any position they can find that'll fit all three of them is idea, it's when everyone has some contact or petting that Nariko truly relaxes. Basara's presence seems to make her a bit nervous though because, come on, who likes being watched like that??

But even that can't bother her when dinner rolls around! It's a very nice afternoon, and then a quiet evening. Nathan wanted help unpacking and then he wouldn't go to bed without hearing some stories, the siblings effectively spend the rest of the waking hours together before Nariko eventually goes to her new room.

Much later on, though - she's hoping Masaomi doesn't wake up just because she opens or otherwise slinks past his door. In the dark Nariko has to try and navigate to Masaomi's bed.

And then crawl into it.]

[ It's been a tiring day, all things considered! So... while he could have been up doing this and that, for the moment, he was asleep. Asleep, rolled over on his side and generally just dozing off. His room was fairly spartan in design, showing little more than just a desk, a small bookshelf above it with a few comic series, and his bed. His clothes were in a small walk in closet and it's pretty clean other than today's dirty clothes on the floor.

So he doesn't wake when she comes in, and doesn't wake as she shifts into the bed, though he does squirm a bit ]

[Thank goodness his room isn't a mess, it means she doesn't trip over anything! But it's also good that he doesn't wake up immediately. She does her best to be delicate but her goal is to get underneath the comforter with him. At first it seems like it might be enough to just lay on her back or with her back to him but ... She ends up edging closer until they're at least touching a little bit.

His pillow needs a little smacking/fluffing before she can settle. Okay: Second attempt to sleep!]

[ Okay so it's more warm and there was the sound of someone beating up a pillow for a bit. The result is... he's still not quite awake, but he groans a little, shifting in his sleep again and opening one ye despite not really being awake. He tries to parse out what's going on in the room, because it's... what, midnight, more or less? He ca't see a clock, the only one in the room is his cell phone. He should put a digital one in here somewhere.

But still, what's- ]

[It's one in the morning, she saw the time on her clock before she left her room.

What's there is Nariko in a sleep shirt and nothing else, making herself comfortable in Masaomi's bed like it belongs to her. Of course she hasn't fallen asleep yet, so when he looks at her she's sort of able to tell and ultimately looks back at him. Is he really awake, though?]

Hey.

[If he's not then he'll just close his eyes and he'll know she's here in the morning!]

Heeeey?

[ He answers, but then he closes his eye and makes to fall back asleep. For Masaomi's part, he's just in boxers and nothing else. So really, they're kind of similarly dressed, largely because it's pretty warm out - or at least he thinks it is. Oh well, he closes his eyes...

There's a good chance he won't realize it until the morning then. Well, unless she does something to wake him up further. ]

[... She has every intention of letting him sleep until something occurs to her.]

Masaomi, I know what it'll take for me to join your gang. [He might be kind of asleep already, though, so she makes sure to poke at his cheek. Listen up, Masa-Masa!!!] Don't you want to hear what it is?

[ Is he dreaming? He's pretty sure he's dreaming, even if he feels a strange feeling of a poke against his cheek, which means hime turn his head in her direction, his eyes half-lidded and his mouth partially open. He's still mostly asleep but...

Nari-chan...

Is here?

Okay he- ] Whaaaaa?

[Pft. He's almost cute.]

Come on, you only have to stay awake for a moment.

[She leans up to kiss him, but it comes with a pretty fierce bite.]

I'm saying I'll join you!

[At least express some joy at the thought!!]

[ Ow! Ow...!

He jumps a little and his eyes open a bit wider. What- ... Nari-chan was here, Nari-chan was in his bed (why the hell was she in his bed? Was he in her bed? No? This is his room it smells like his room and she's in the former guest room, right?

... Um ]

Okay. [ Wake up, don't be in shock - ] So... what's up?
