[Midlandia] Just One Note

[A series of events occurred which were incredibly important and ultimately life changing.

But frankly her attention span was always rather limited. What really mattered above all else was that she and Nathan were free, and it didn't require Vergil's scolding or leaving the country. They had been adopted into this pack with considerably minimal fuss. They had a roof, food, and a way to get to and from school. The best part was that there was no one to hit her anymore, no more getting thrown left and right into walls or furniture, and Nathan no longer had to hear all the yelling and insults. They could be living in a high class sewer and Nariko would still be happy.

And while she'd made her gratuity very clear to the Alpha she's been otherwise quite normal! Nariko had survived the state of things because she knew how to control herself, how to present properly. So ever since they'd been given their space she'd gone about meeting everyone she could, being both agreeable and fun, while Nathan clung to her side the whole time.

Lately, though, he's been feeling a little more like himself. On this particular day she's sprawled all over the couch while Nathan watches some movie directly in front of her. If she's supposed to give a single crap about her tiny shorts or tank top then ... Actually, no, why would she? It hasn't occurred to Nariko to dress or act differently, especially because there's so many women. Besides, she's kind of idly watching it with him or occasionally toying with her phone, and really she'd practically beg for something fun to do. Ugh.]

[ Both boys pulls their hands back to themselves now, though Masaomi rests his hand now over his own heart ]

I'll come up with a cool name of us later.

[ Mikado sighs, grinning too. She wanted to go see Nathan, now...? Even if he'd like the sex, he won't impose ]

Alright! While you do that, I'm going to find Nathan! Try to stay out of trouble, okay?

[And pick the right spot for her frame in her room.

Before she runs off she gives Mikado a Look - she does need to at least put her eyes on her dorky sibling but that won't take long, and if Mikado can pull off being alone for a bit then? It's not as if she doesn't want to finish what started earlier.]

[ Mikado sees that Look and he...

He nods. He smiles at it too, and Masaomi, if he notices that, doesn't say anything. They both say their pleasant goodbyes to Nariko, and Masaomi saunters off to go and take a shower and change. Mikado considers doing the same, but thinks better of it and wanders off back to his room to collect his laptop and then trods off to the kitchen until he sees that Linda's in there. Okay, he should escape-

...

He couldn't escape. He's stuck in there hearing her complain about people are her college ]

[To whatever credit it may count for Nariko really does check on Nathan, and finds that he's perfectly alright. In fact he's gone and tried to talk with most everyone in the house quite naturally, so he's feeling a lot better than she had expected him too! They talk about her date and then she changes, too, and takes off her jewelry and such since there won't be any leaving the house.

So maybe forty minutes later Nariko finds him in the kitchen with a young women.]

Mikado! [She chirps and then gives Linda an apologetic smile.] Hey, I'm sorry, could I borrow him for a little bit?

[ Linda, for the record, is a a 23 year old blonde woman, with a thin waist and an hourglass figure, as if all of her fat goes to her hips and to her chest. Her chest is certainly impressive too, boasting a cup size which must push or push past a D cup. She's been rambling for the better part of twenty minutes now and Mikado's since taken off his glasses, groaning against the counter. Still, he sits up and is excited when Nariko was there!

Is he free?!

... But Linda turns, smirks a little ] Little Nathan's sister, right? I've been waiting to actually meet you.

[Well, she certainly meant to free Mikado so they could go off and do something which would have him groaning for awesome reasons but it seems that Linda is stopping Nariko. And it would rude to say 'please stop talking so I can go have sex' so ... Here they are. She hides her vague irritation behind a smile.]

Right! He said he went around and talked with everyone, hopefully he didn't stutter too much with you!

[Linda was attractive! In fact, if Nariko actually liked girls she'd probably be attracted to her! But nothing like that would ever be admitted out loud! Also, Nariko's like ninety-five percent sure she'll be hotter at twenty-one then Linda is at twenty-three anyway so, whatever.]

But, here I am! It's nice to meet you, officially! [And with that she offers her hand for a polite shake.]

[ Linda was also fairly tall, pushing somewhere around 5'8. And while Mikado or Masaomi would tell Nariko that right now the blonde's smile was entirely sincere, or at close to sincere as they had ever seen on the woman, right now she was all but sparkling in her eyes and smirking as she seemed to look through Nariko. But she also reaches out and takes her hand, shaking it and nodding before taking her hand back and placing it on her hip ]

Oh no, not at all. I'm pretty sure he stared a little, but who could help that? [ Mikado groans a little, quietly, into the counter ] He's going to be a handsome young man in a few years himself anyway, he's already pretty charming.

[ That said ] It's nice to meet you too though! You've gotten to be good friends with our little jester and emperor already, it seems.

[.... Her brother is like ten and has shown zero interest in girls, so she really can't help raising a brow at that, but it's better to keep her mouth shut. Since it seems she's talking about Masaomi and Mikado:]

They've been very welcoming! And Nathan really likes Mikado, so it worked out pretty well! Hopefully I'll be good friends with you, too.

[There was a sizable age gap between them but that didn't mean they couldn't get along! And since this might take a few more minutes at the very least Nariko goes over to Mikado to rub his back. There, there, sort-of boyfriend: At least you're not alone, right? Linda does seem like the incredibly talkative type.]

[ Much better, Mikado silently thanks you from his position of face in the counter. He would have whispered a warning, but in all honesty he didn't want his big sister (sort of) to complain about him complaining about her because he would more than never hear the end of it. No, no much better to simply endure because in time, like all things, it will pass.

The worst part is given the nature of some of what he needed to hear out, while it's hardly the ocean or wavs now, there is a light hint of say a sea salt popsicle or popcorn around Mikado.

As for Linda, the woman continues on unabashed. ]

Mmmhm! It seemed like he would, after all our little Emperor [ sigh from Mikado ] is a regular wiz kid, even if he doesn't live up to that name complete, always getting dragged everywhere by Masaomi. [ Linda seems thoughtful for a moment, and then shrugs ] Still, he's not bad, so it's not like you or him have gone wrong in the making the call. I know we're pretty strapped for people both of your own ages, and Rin might actually be able to run around Nathan for hours and hours. [ She seems to snort at this, walking over towards the fridge for what Mikado knows is about the fifth time and examining the interior, and then closing it when she can't seem to decide what she wants to eat or drink ]

You'll be in their school, right? I graduated there too, and if you ever talk to Prof Nara, he'll have nothing but good things to say about me, so if you ever get on his bad side, feel free to throw that around.

[For the first time it's difficult to even mind his scent because she's a little uncertain about Linda, she's a new person and Nariko doesn't quite know how to hold herself or operate - mostly she's trying to drop the incredible suspicion that's pervaded her life in the last few years, but it's hard.

But it really doesn't seem like Nariko has to even say much for Linda to go on.]

Ahh, you say that, but Mikado's a pretty great emperor when he's with me?

[This is a presumptuous thing to say since it's literally only been a day but Nariko pulls it off quite well all the same, and she doesn't need very much time to feel protective on someone's behalf. That Mikado might be used to this kind of treatment is completely beside the point.]

I'm sure Nathan will have fun with him! Although hopefully I can meet Rin soon, too! Toddlers are fun. [She'd know, since no one else wanted to look after her brother at that age.]

I will be! I'm starting on Monday, so I'll make sure to introduce myself to him! [What kind of teacher would be enamored with Linda and why is a very good question, here ...] Hopefully I'll do better at following the rules this time, though.

[ Linda's brows arch a little at that last bit there, because even if a lot of those are deeply delicious she can't help but narrow in on that last thing. The one hand on her hip goes up to gesture - but seemingly needing to highlight her hips or support her waist (or maybe just to project attitude, who knows?) the young man brings the other hand right back to the opposite side of her waist. She hasn't forgotten the other points and her tone is almost sing-song as he asks ]

Oh no, does that mean you're a little bit of a bad girl?

[ The implication being that she didn't disapprove of that. But she's clearly... well, Masaomi and her are cut from a not entirely dissimilar cloth. ]

If that's the case then I shouldn't really admit it either way, right?

[Linda is, after all, an adult!]

I just get bored in school, that's all.

[So she runs off and finds other stuff to do! Well, that was until Lena finally got her claws in the right way and forced her to pay more attention but! It's a lot more fun to have sex all day then listen to boring lectures.]

Oh, it's okay, you can tell me! After all, no secrets here.

[ There's plenty of secrets here. She once more turns to the fridge, opens it, considers it for a long moment, frowns, and and closes it again. She sighs dramatically, walking past the fridge and towards the cupboard. What does she want to drink... ]

If Mikado does go all aggro Emperor on you thought you should be careful - the minute you let some quiet guy get all gung-ho like that he's going to get just weird ideas in his head. Like uh, no, I don't want to breed with you Kyle, who the hell would? You might be cute and all but I'm pretty sure your IQ's lower than my waist measurement. Seriously! You let a boy get too ahead of himself and he'll make you regret it. Not that the whole challenge factor isn't a bit fun, after all, it's no fun if they're all pretty flaccid the whole time, but there's a balance, you know? Plus, of course, the quiet ones are the worst when they flip around.

[ A beat, and she seems to belatedly realize she was insulting Mikado- ]

Not that I think our cute little Emperor's like that at all! Bet he's pretty fun to be like that.

[There are a lot of secrets and Nariko intends to keep quite a few of hers for as long as she can.

... And what in the world is with this woman and the kitchen? Is she in need of assistance? Should Nariko just pick something for her?? But, wow, she can really begin to understand why Mikado's scent was vaguely present, she can stand it and Masaomi probably could, too, but that's just an overall unfair topic for Mikado.]

First, though? It seems an insult to compare someone with a small IQ to Mikado anyway! I think if a boy cared about me enough to feel that strongly, I'd actually be pretty happy about it.

[This is an incredibly honest response on her end, but she tries to say it plainly enough so that it might not rouse any meaningful thought.]

In any case, I like Mikado the way he is, aggressive or not. Ah, but I do need his help with some stuff for school - he promised to help, so ...

[Mikado get up and get ready to move.]

[ Mikado sees the light at the end of the tunnel now, he can escape!! He gets up off the counter, and he smiles for Linda and fixes his glasses. He's... ]

I thought you didn't start yet? [ A beat, and then as he turns to rummage in the cupboard (which Mikado recognizes is to hide the fact she's lightly embarrassed to need to do this at all) ] But yeah, sorry, Mikado. Guess that was a little bit of projection on my part. My bad. [ A hum, and- ] Enjoy her body though, Emperor!

[ And she laughs, going full joker here as he finds her own commentary hysterical apparently, and Mikado, for his part... ]

I... you're best off with orange juice, I think.

[ And grabbing Nariko's hand to march them out of there before they get sucked into another vortex ]

[--- I'd definitely give it a shot.]

[....... Are Linda and Masaomi ..... Related ... They have to be, right???]

Bye, Linda!

[Mikado doesn't even have to pull at her, once he's up she's quickly heading for the exit, to the stairs and her room. She isn't going to stop until they get there, and the door is closed behind the both of them.]

Holy shit. Am I like that?!

[ Mikado, for his part, comes out and exhales hard when he's pretty sure that they're free of the amazing blonde. And he looks up at her with a somewhat strained smile. He loves Linda, he truly, truly does. But she's more than a little overwhelming, and at least she gets it now... right? Probably. ]

I don't think anyone is like her.

That's probably a good thing, right?

[Nariko's more than sure that she's a great individual, and she's clearly very vivacious, smart, and outspoken which are all good things to be! It's just, wow, yeah, she can definitely be a bit much if you have to spend more than an hour with her. Or thirty minutes.]

But now we're free, so, hi.

[And that greeting comes with a kiss.]

Hi.

[ Mikado's a little bit breathless now, and he grins as they kiss, lingering a bit on her lips before pulling back, and fixing his glasses to take in her new appearance. For his part, he only barely had time to change but she looks like she cleaned up entirely. But maybe women are just amazing at that - he's got reason to think so for how a lot of the older women in the pack clean up ]

It is though and... I know what you mean, and you're not as overbearing as she is. So you don't need to worry.

[ A beat ]

You're probably as attractive?

Probably?!

[Mikado that is really not the best way to start this off, especially since she basically came up here to roll around in the sheets and everything. Nariko pouts but this time it's not particularly dramatic or overblown she's genuinely hurt by that.

[ . . .

He messed that up, didn't he?

He- Well. He should. Um??? ]

... I- I mean. No, you're... I like you a lot. And you're really hot.

[ He sort of put his foot in his mouth ]

[Forget his foot, he got all the way up to his knee on that one, because now she feels a little silly for seeking him out like this. And it's not as if she's selectively hard of hearing, someone who says they like you and that you're hot probably likes you just fine! Fine enough to justify having sex!

But her confidence is irrationally shaken.]

I mean - if you like her to it's fine I just thought you'd? [He'd seriously looked ready to fall through the floor.]

I-If I misunderstood then it's okay you don't ... Have to.

[Humor her.

This is an awfully emotional reaction on her end when she was the one insisting none of this could be a big deal.]

[ Linda's only redeeming trait (okay she had other redeeming traits but he's being hyperbolic in his head right now) was that she was hot. That's all it meant, really, and that she's a little older. But he...

Really... just like...

Doesn't know what to say here? Masaomi would know, he should call him - ... But there's no calling him right now, it's just him and Nariko and his foot in his mouth. The young man's cheeks color, and then he pales, and then he hangs his head a little. and he reaches out, raising his head and wrapping his arms around her shoulders, draping himself on her ]

You didn't misunderstand thing - I -- I mean you saved me, and I know that you're - I mean, I think we have something special. I hope we can?

[In some other situation it would have been funny to watch him change colors so quickly, but right now it's mostly just a little concerning. Of course she doesn't have time to worry about that while he's guiding her closer and Nariko can't think to do anything but wrap her arms around him as he talks. Maybe it's easier if he's not looking right at her? If so, that's okay.

Something special ...]

I - Yeah. [It takes some angling but she puts her head down to kiss his cheek.]

I-It is special. I think.

[Which means they should both stop talking because she's going to shove her arm down her throat to go with Mikado's leg. For that, though, she had to get his head up from wherever it's decided to end up so that they can start this properly. It's not going to be difficult for her to get back into the rhythm of it. He thinks they (might) have something special. He likes her. And she really, really likes him too. And Masaomi and -

She's so doomed, here.]

[ If she's doomed, is he any less doomed? But right, right, they can...

Special, she thinks?

Is that any better than his awkward qualifier?

Oh well, he's not going to press her on it, just try to disentangle their arms and connect together more ... well, more artfully, or something? He looks to face her more directly - and the leans in to kiss her. Lightly, but invitingly. They really should have head to one of their rooms though ]
