[Pokelandia] That one which isn't focused on Masanari
[ Rin has been on his Pokémon journey for the last five months. It's not exactly the longest journey ever, but for a teenager who didn't exactly have a plan when he set out other than wanting to catch up to his twin brother, with whom he's battled several times and still has a record that shows more losses than wins, it certainly feels like a long one. Certainly long enough for him to train up a reasonably strong team and to get used to things like sleeping outdoors when he's out of towns and cozying up in a Pokémon Center when he was in a town. The life of a trainer was being frugal, especially if you weren't a Pro.
Then again, there's still a lot you can do even without being a full Pro, which is shown by the fact that the teenager, through many hard battles, has probably seen a little more than half the country, hiked over a mountain, and earned three gym badges this far. In comparison to some legendary prodigies he's working at a moderate pace, but then he wasn't really aiming for the League Champion position and he wasn't really necessarily out to be the Best at first.
But he did want to be the Best in his family. But that's a whole other thing he's not really sure how to explain to anyone else. Rin's starter was a cute little Shinx who he began his journey with, and who in the aftermath of their climactic second gym battle actualized into a humanoid as a result of their celebratory bond. That was on of the proudest moments of his life. It's not necessarily rare for trainers to bond with a Pokémon to that extent, but it's also not necessarily common, and that gym leader had ruffled his hair and told him good job. Aside from here, he's caught maybe six or seven other Pokémon, of which three are in the care of the people running the academy he used to go to school in, his connected PC system. One of those Pokémon is Junko.
Junko is a beautiful and somewhat vain (or at least, he sees her as such) Sylveon who he caught after a fierce battle while hiking through a mountain range past a certain City. He wasn't able to fight the gym leader there who was supposedly away on business, but he did shake hands with the leader's son and promise to come battle them again some day. It's been about a month since then, and he's taken to sleeping against her as a pillow (at her suggestion) when they are camping outside, while many of his other pokemon prefer to rest in the comfort of their balls.I leave you to decide how Audrey sleeps
And so... one morning, following such a rest-- ]

Oh right, he doesn't have clothes either.
(he wasn't teasing her about the crying thing she doesn't do it much) but he too jumped to - ]
Shit.

[They got so much food that it's probably going to be wheeled in, but quickly ducking into the bathroom tells her that she was right: There's one bathrobe there and she has to take it for herself, she doesn't feel like flashing anyone but Koji today. But their room but really smell like sex, or maybe it's the clothes on the floor or the sheets or that Koji's pretty visible, the dude who has brought their order looks completely stunned.]
Right over there is fine.
[Near the couch, though the idea of eating in bed is kind of nice, her eyes narrow at how openly the dude stares at Koji which ... Okay, it makes sense? Gijinka are more commonly seen with experienced trainers, not petite little things like Veronica.]
You can go. [Her tone implies 'now' and when the jerk skitters off she makes sure to slam the door behind him.]
no subject
And when the guy leaves, Koji tries to stand. Okay, he's getting there--
Nailed it!
He still feels slimey ]
It smells interesting.
no subject
Well, there's a lot!
[Some of the smells had to be mixing together a little weirdly.] Here's the fries, the salmon ... Oh, and this is my cheesecake!
[See, those are three things which already don't go together but the cloches are pulled off all the same, and she can't help grinning as her stomach aches. Sex can make a girl hungry!] Wanna eat in bed?
[You know, he was probably going to need help with utensils, now that she thought about it.]
no subject
[ Bed would be nice, but at the same time, he has to fold to her. After all, she actually knows how to eat with utensils and eats human food more often. But for right now, Koji is sniffing the air, marveling that his nose is actually a little bit weaker now, or at least different? It's like had a cold... maybe? He's not sure, but he walks over towards her, getting up to the couch and crossing his arms a little ]
There is a lot.
no subject
[They'll just work with this! She puts down the fish first and then the fries, which is still an odd combo but it's a little more normal than fries and soup or whatever. Rather than worry about her own food Veronica takes one set of silverware and sits next to him, unravelling it and holding both her fork and knife as an example.]
You have to hold them like this, okay? Give it a try.
[But she's not expecting him to get it right on the first go around, but she hands them off with a proud smile.]
no subject
Okay, so let's sit down next to her on the couch and looks over the food again, trying to not feel overwhelmed by all these sights. It's not like he's never seen or even never eaten more human friendly food... but it's still not something he's done often and the whole feel of it is different. Particularly laid out in front of him. Because he wants to remain on top of things, he looks over at her, takes the fork and...
... Okay no, he was holding it backwards. Okay, no, like this?
... Thumbs are weird. His grip doesn't look sturdy ]
no subject
So you just cut and stab it, basically, and - open your mouth!
[So one bite can ideally make it's way into his mouth while she kisses his neck.]
no subject
[ He grunts this, because he does have his pride and the whole arms around him thing isn't helping that at all. But then again, he's also a lost lamb basically so it's probably good to be helped. For his part, he's going for that fish first, cutting it and then ripping a piece free. Some of it flakes off the fork, and he watches it fall back on top of the main slab.
...
Okay, no, okay, up to his mouth (oh, she's kissing him) open his mouth, and - bite the fork to scrape it off? That seems right. Chew. ]
no subject
And those you have to just stab a little harder and really chew on, human teeth are probably week compared to a Pokémon's, but the back ones are designed to grind on anything.
[So he should be mostly alright now? She reaches for her own food, but she's keeping a light eye on him.]
no subject
Oh, it's a little salty.
[ He sounds more like he's observing this than judging it.
It's not, he's just used to eating a lot of raw things which aren't salted at all. A lot of human food adds salt and pepper and that's different. ]
no subject
Is it good otherwise?
[Veronica is mowing her way through her grilled cheese as well as her quesadilla. This isn't at all abnormal, when they go long stints without eating regularly (or rather, when she does - she'd never starve her Pokémon just to feed herself, though that era may have been before Koji anyway) she feels the need to eat compulsively and quickly, so both foods will be gone in the next few seconds.]
no subject
Yeah, it's clearly quality fish. It's warm going down this throat. The fact it's cooked makes it that much softer, which is probably good when he's feeling so squishy.
... He does like to watch her eat. ]
It is, yeah. [ A beat. ] Is yours?
no subject
[Said around a mouthful of cheese, which she has the decency to swallow like a proper young woman before she speaks again.] I didn't expect this place to have such good food but it's impressive! It's easy to fuck up something simple like a grilled cheese sandwich, but I think they put a lot of effort into it!
[Look, her third love in this world is food, which only falls slightly behind being a trainer.
And it's a good thing he likes to watch because she isn't going to slow down any.] Man, I wonder if we should pack extra since we'll be heading to Victory Road.
no subject
[ Or did she mean just food in general?
He looks around at what they have, blinking a little as he does, but dismisses it. He's seen her eat a lot before, whenever they splurge. And so he focuses back on her, sort of nibbling at what he was eating himself as he does. This is pretty good.
Let's try a fry ]
no subject
[Yep, she meant in general!
She moves on to the fruit tart, despite going a little out of order here. A strawberry ends up stuck between her lips as she stops to consider something. When it's ultimately bitten down on it comes with a noisy little squelching noises.] ... Can you believe we got this far, though? I mean ...
[It feels awful to say now, but it's hard to be anything but honest.] I've been working towards it this whole time but I think I always thought I'd fail somewhere along the way!
[Her cheerful tone doesn't fit that sentence at all.]
no subject
Not only did you have me, but you actually beat my dad before we met. [ Though his mom wasn't really involved in the battle, probably. ] I've seen the badge. There's no way we weren't going to make it here.
[ Maybe that seemed optimistic, or maybe it was just arrogant, but it was his sincere belief, both in her skill and his own abilities. There's no way he could fail her, and he knows that the others (particularly Skarmory... or maybe he's just giving them too much credit) feel the same. It's easy to root for oneself and ones trainer, but...
It's a goal she had. they were going to go all the way. ]
no subject
[She almost apologizes before realizing that'd be kind of insulting, and on top of that she was a Trainer - it was her job to be good enough to beat the Gym Leaders, even if they were the parent of her best friend/Pokémon. Koji would understand something like that.] Man, was he the crazy Water type guy that made us surf to get to him? Or the one with that weird Flareon ....
[These are the only options that have men that Veronica would accept as Koji's father. The other ones were too normal and boring.]
... Thanks, Koji.
[It's impossible to doubt herself when he sounds so convinced. A part of that is arrogance and the confidence he has in himself, obviously, but there's more there too. There's the fact that they're so bonded that she can't disagree with him, despite the validity of her fears.]
no subject
But he clarifies - ]
Seriously. He specializes in electric types and favorite to rest people with his his Raichu.
[ But he also has a weird Flareon. He snorts at the idea. But in order to answer her sincere thanks, he reaches a hand out and brushes the side of her fact, pushing back some hair to go behind her ears. And pets behind her ears because humans clearly would like that too, right? Even with their weirdly small ears ]
no subject
[Believe it or not Veronica hasn't quite connected that, considering the Gym Leader used electric types and the one deviation was also the one Pokémon that matched Koji's evolution pattern, you'd think this would be utterly clear to her. And there's definitely something to be said for the fact that it'd mean Koji was the result of a human/gijinka relationship.
But she's really into this fruit tart, and he catches her off guard with the touching and the ... Whatever he's trying to do with her ears that makes her grin.]
Hm, I can be petted, too? [She kind of figured he might enjoy being spoiled more than he'd like returning the gesture, though maybe it's only because they were having a little bit of a moment. Either way, she leans in enough to kiss him, slower and with more consideration than before.]
no subject
... the kiss is nice.
And when they break from the kiss, he shoots back, ]
Only if you tell me how that went.
[ The epic battle with his dad ]
literally wings all of this omfg
Well, it was incredibly difficult. I mean, I guess it's true that a lot of the other Gym Leaders farther down the line were harder in the technical sense - better moves, more refined Pokémon - but he was difficult because nothing that I really threw his way stuck as much as I thought it would. I mean, I took Skarmory, Sandslash, Cubone, Nidoqueen, and Wooper, I expected it to be difficult but I think it lasted for nearly two hours.
[In other words, she'd maybe planned a bit heavily on the fact that Masaomi was an electric Gym Leader, which was smart but also maybe a reach around mistake.]
I was actually doing really well until the very end. I had three left and he had one, that Flareon, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a Pokémon so excited to battle. It decimated Skarmory so badly that I almost forfeited to take her to Nurse Joy, Nidoqueen went down in less than thirty seconds, and then it was just Cubone and I.
[... Even remembering the ferocity of those two could feel overwhelming.] Now that I think about it though, I don't think he necessarily sacrificed the other ones - they loved him too much for that - but it's almost like the first three were for the sake of getting a feel on me, the next two were for testing, and the Flareon was sort of the end-all, be-all. The 'you're worthy' kind of fight. Didn't help that the guy stopped joking and talking as we got farther along.
[It was by no small means a very interesting and weirdly emotional battle.]
No I put you on the spot but I love it, much worldbuild, sounds good.
And Koji...
He listens, an even expression on his face, but clearly captivated at the image. He imagines all of his dad's team and othes besides, imagining easily the ones who were likely put out there. The ones thrown out to get a feel for her were the free spirited Emolga in all likelihood, and also Heliolisk and... Minun? Probably Minun or Plusle, they tend to tag out when his father wasn't doing a two way battle. The real tests would have been his Raichu and his Rotom. And then, of course, his mother.
The whole thing plays out before him, and he finds a new respect for Cubone. Still... He smiles, petting behind her head, on her neck. Her shoulders and down them, moving overtop of the robe at first. He's not sure where to pet a human.
But still... ]
If you still won, you really proved something.
no subject
[It was raised nestled in her case like all the others, but she smiles all the asme, letting him touch her however he pleases.] It was an incredibly difficult battle, but I think I learned more from him than some of the other gym leaders combined. Think he'd accept a friendly rematch?
[There might be some weird clause about not making a Pokémon rival out of your actual Pokémon's father but that's not a fun clause at all and Veronica's likely to ignore it. She does take Koji's hand, trying to guide his fingers through her hair since he seems intent on petting her.]
I must have met you right after that, I'd wanted to go through the mountain because I heard it was awful.
[And after barely making it out of the gym battle training had felt even more vital back then.]
no subject
[ The mountain was awful, huh? He smirks at this, and he once more blows an Icy Wind in her direction, blowing it towards her face and her ear. She probably connected by now that he caused the blizzards, right? Oh well, he brushes the back of her scalp now, urging his way through her hair. He kissed hr on the cheek after it all and grins.
Yeah. ]
