[Midlandia] Just One Note

[A series of events occurred which were incredibly important and ultimately life changing.

But frankly her attention span was always rather limited. What really mattered above all else was that she and Nathan were free, and it didn't require Vergil's scolding or leaving the country. They had been adopted into this pack with considerably minimal fuss. They had a roof, food, and a way to get to and from school. The best part was that there was no one to hit her anymore, no more getting thrown left and right into walls or furniture, and Nathan no longer had to hear all the yelling and insults. They could be living in a high class sewer and Nariko would still be happy.

And while she'd made her gratuity very clear to the Alpha she's been otherwise quite normal! Nariko had survived the state of things because she knew how to control herself, how to present properly. So ever since they'd been given their space she'd gone about meeting everyone she could, being both agreeable and fun, while Nathan clung to her side the whole time.

Lately, though, he's been feeling a little more like himself. On this particular day she's sprawled all over the couch while Nathan watches some movie directly in front of her. If she's supposed to give a single crap about her tiny shorts or tank top then ... Actually, no, why would she? It hasn't occurred to Nariko to dress or act differently, especially because there's so many women. Besides, she's kind of idly watching it with him or occasionally toying with her phone, and really she'd practically beg for something fun to do. Ugh.]

[That ... Is not helping her attempts at self control. Her scent careens upward, becoming overbearing for the grand total of a full second and then sharply drops, which is what it tends to do when she reacts instinctively and then immediately tries to repress it. On a mental level, it's very dizzying for her to feel, so it's good that Mikado offers his hand because her face is kind of hot and her dress is already a little tight but it feels tighter. Nariko successfully hides the little bit of relief that just comes with taking his hand, though, and gets up on shaky legs.]

[ They're both suckered by that second, Mikado's scent becoming the more pronounced of the two despite Masaomi being no less interested. Rather, it's more he's yet to gain any sort of control over it, but he's also yet to gain too much of it to begin with. His development cycle in that regard was just beginning, but Mikado was making the world smell of sea salt around them, and he's distinctly embarrassed by it. Still, he stands with her, nodding so as to lead her away and towards the swings. ]

[ Masaomi, for his part, gets in step behind them. They need to clean up that picnic to be fair but he does so by way of simple pulling in the corners of the blanket and thus scooping up all the wrappers and such into one sac to carry with them ]

[That smell is ... Well, she waits until they get closer to the swings to squeeze Mikado's hand.]

Hey, is that you?

[And because his answer won't be good enough on its own Nariko gets up in his space, leaning in towards his neck where she can literally sniff at his skin. Yeah, that's definitely come off of Mikado, though she'd worried it might be Masaomi despite how little sense that would make. It hadn't escaped her that he didn't have a specific, named kind of scent the other day.]

[And on top of reacting to it naturally she just loves the surface detail of it, too! So while Nariko had every intention of actually getting on the swing she also kisses his neck with an indulgently satisfied moan, as if she could taste it on him.]

[ Masaomi's snickering, looming back a bit both to try to control his own scent and to clean up the picnic. Not that he isn't right behind them, even as they make it to the swings, he is still there maybe only four meters off... but he's taking his time now to sort out what's trash and what's not here, and walk off to trash it. Mikado would normally do this sort of stuff and the face he is -- the irony isn't lost on him, but still, his bro's getting his mack on now ]

[ The Ocean... his scent spikes at the kiss, but he does try to reign it in ]

[Mikado should know how utterly hopeless it is to try and control any part of this, especially when Nariko's become focused on something. And right now she's illogically adoring of Mikado's neck, nipping and then outright biting it gently, wrapping both her arms around his shoulders and pressing as close as possible. He can try to control himself all she wants but she's given up on it in favor of drowning in his smell.

It was just so ... Comforting. And nostalgic. Both of those qualities were pure coincidence but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the result.]

[She barely lets up to say even that much.]

[ . . . Is she doing this on purpose?

It's hard to decide what she smells like, and he--

But that question earns a look that is equal parts exasperation and confusion.]

[It's still a bit awkward even as she straights out, but Nariko takes one of Mikado's hands, firmly placing it on her chest, with her palm over his she squeezes.]
