[Futurelandia] The Thanksgiving and Early December Post

[ It's been around a month since everything started to change. And frankly, a damn sure more things have changed even in that month. There's simplistic ones, such as Masaomi getting a vasectomy which even if he tried to keep it on the downlow, everyone found out about because of what a whiner he was for his week of medical abstinence and everyone felt after that for how he proceeded to fuck every relevant woman in the house and who would sleep with him out of the house into submission for the next two or three days. Everyone sort of had a rude awakening there.

But then, some changes were bigger and more serious. A new member joined there pack (Veroncia) not all that long ago, and it was much to everyone except some of the adult's surprise. Everyone had to learn their new pecking order and where she fit in with the rest of them. Masaomi and Nariko continued their rituals and continued their seeing other people, to mixed results from both. Audrey was hanging around the house more, though she hadn't had the recommended Talk with Masaomi about joining, despite making this something of a second home for her. And of course, Junko's training continued despite the week long hiatus from it.

Everyone was changing, and everyone was adapting. Yamato even had a sexy car now. And at the culmination of everything, a sort of milestone in the midst of everything, there was Thanksgiving, the lead up to it, and the follow up after it leading into December. A time when a lot of people hung out in one house, and then things got weirdly tense for a variety of reasons. God bess us, every one. ]

[ Aaaaah... Ah, so this guy was trying to be serious at him. The least the Alpha can do is be serious back. As such, Masaomi removes his arm from Nathan's shoulder, he considers getting some foot, thinks better of it, and instead crosses his arms, his back to the little finger sandwiches he'll be getting some of in a moment.

And he clears his throat before moving on to Alpha Voice, sounding at once more together and confident than he'd yet been able to display for his "brother in law" ]

When do you expect you'll be able to move in, Nathaniel-san? I actually run a real estate business, so if you give me your price point, I can find a place.

[There was no point in even looking for a house if Masaomi didn't want him around in the first place, it's logical assume that he's got a green light but if it seems too good to be true then there's a chance it is.]

Mmm. [ Masaomi shifts into a smile, rocking from one leg to the other ] You've actually come up in conversation before now, Nathaniel-san. I didn't know what I expected to happen here, but if she's already invited you, I've got no reason to object.

[ But all the same, there was one rule. He holds up a finger and- ] As long as it's understood it's my house, and my family, and my pack. It's your family as well, but if I've any concerns... mm. I don't really expect them, though.

[ That might have been a threat, but it might also have been promise. He's not even sure himself. the stories he's heard of Nathan are many and contradictory. In the end, he doesn't think he's a danger to anyone. But ... well, if NAthan were to get weird with Junko, for example, he'd break that perfect nose of his ]

Of course. [There's no getting around that. At the end of the day everything belongs to this man and Nathan ... Can't do shit about it. Except be nearby, have some kind of relationship with his niece and nephews. That's valuable enough to withhold to whatever standard Masaomi might insist upon. Hearing that Masaomi isn't worrying (though Nathan certainly mistakes it as not being even peripherally concerned ...) fills him with some sense of pride, and almost makes his earlier decision seem worthwhile and entirely valid.]

But that said.]

I don't really care about price as long as it's relatively near you guys, and it's big enough to house some of my stuff.

Most of the ones on our street are huge three to five story things meant for a small pack to move into, and most of them are already taken. Going one or two streets off though... Maaah, I'd have to look at my notes are call Lisa. You'll understand if I can't keep my head in the business right now.

[ He says this with a shrug, but also takes this moment to turn away from nathan to get a little sandwich. While the other man can't see his face, Masaomi allows himself a slight grimace. Nariko offered that without asking him... huh. Well, whatever, it's not necessarily a big deal, particularly with emotions rising high today. But a pleasant look is back on his face in the instant he turns back around ]

But these are all peripheral concerns, no doubt the man is much more excited about being around his family. Masaomi wonders how his children will react to Nathan... Yamato will probably be confused, maybe even wary. Koji would be easy enough to win over. Junko would no doubt be the most curious, but also the hardest to win in the long term. At least, he predicts at a glance ]

Sorry to say you'll have a lot of people to be introduced to.

Of course, I still have a performance at the end of the year as it is, so it'll probably be a few weeks anyway. [How long does it take to close on houses? What is he going to need? Does the fact that he's been out of the country for so long mean anything? He doesn't know the answer to any of these questions and he knows better than to pose them, but they linger all the same.]

[Everyone on his father's side was dead or otherwise missing. His mother was gone and, as Masaomi had likely gleaned, while his mother had been fond of him Nathan was still a son out of wedlock. The rest of that whole group tolerated him a bit better than Nariko but the difference was only just barely visible.But now he had an actual family, people to spend time with and do things with and grow with.

It's the alcohol that almost makes him want to cry a bit, here. He doesn't, of course, but still. Masaomi's displeasure goes completely unnoticed.]

[ This is said with only a slight level of sarcasm. It sounds nice to him, all things considered. Still, while he does stroke his chin, he also laughs it off, shaking his head ]

I'm sure we can work out the details after this. For now, though.

[ He leans forward and pulls the guy into a half-hug while he does hold the little sandwich in his free hand. Might as well welcome him into the family even if he does have his confusion and misgivings ]

[He's about to maybe gently accuse Masaomi of being sarcastic because Nathan catches that, no matter how slight, and thank you very fucking much but he doesn't need to be patronized right now. But then he gets that hug, and he can't help feeling guilty for misjudging the guy, and thinking something so mean.

It might start out as a half-hug but it becomes a loose, full one in order to help protect the tiny sandwich. He's big on hugs, okay?]

[ They're all stressed now, and he excuses a lot out of Nathan both for that and for the fact that Nariko has previously excused his own family. Not to mention she excused Nathan, and if she did then... well, he can still be wary, but he can also be accepting.

He's so done with the whole thing. With the wake and the oncoming funeral, with all these fucking people who - unlike Masaomi - won't even try to give Nathan or Nariko a chance. There's never any opportunity to do better but you'll still be criticized for never changing. It's ridiculous and he very suddenly wants to demand that they all just leave. Put the bitch in the ground because he's just incredibly done with how she's impacted his life and fucked him up.]

I think we're about done, though. [They only have to stay for the time period on the invitations, once they hit that final minute he's definitely telling him they don't have to go home but they have to get the fuck out of here.]

[ He'd sort of assumed they would need to be the last ones still in here. Had steeled himself for that. But on the other hand, go home? There is no home, only the hotel room and some of these people were probably staying in the same building. Masaomi didn't know the town enough to pick where to go. In that respect, he's relying on Nariko and Nathan ]

More or less, I don't think anyone will really stay till the last instant.

[And he didn't plan on leaving a window for last minute mourners, here. Maybe he would have before his talk with his sister but there's nothing left in him. Or, at least, he thought there wasn't anything because it's from the corner of his eye that he catches sight of - well, at least she came back on her own.

That's a good sign, right?]

[ Masaomi sees her too. And he feels relieved, elated to see his other half ( ... oh, did he think of her like that? Guess he did. ) over there.

... He grins a little wider. And he steps out of Nathan's embrace to wave her over, or at least tries to do that covertly. Still, he does this a little and twirls little bit. ]

Then how about we go out to dinner. My treat, before you two get more rich!

What, now?

[Nariko's coming on the tail end of this, and so while she caught the obvious parts of that it's ... There has to be some kind of explanation. Either way she goes to Masaomi and puts her arm around him. She did a good job hiding it but he might catch the very thin smell of cigarettes on her, and her scent is muddled and frustrated despite how calm she looks.]

Apparently I'm being offered dinner! [... Nathan doesn't look at her, and instead keeps his eyes focused on Masaomi.]

Well, pretty much everyone is gone, right? [There was one stubborn group of people but aside from that ... Well, the woman wasn't exactly popular.]

[ How long had it been since he smelled cigarettes on her ~~if he ever had before idk~~ but Masaomi makes to pointedly ignore it, wrapping an arm around her - or well, starting to but he instead offers her an arm to grip on and hang off off of. There's some sort of a scent here, be it both hers or the cigarettes, but... ]

The both of you are being offered it, actually. [ He grins at Nariko, leaning over to give her a little peck before turning back to Nathan ]

Are we at the end of the time on the invite?

[ He doesn't have a watch on. ... He didn't have any fancies watches. ]

[It's been an incredibly long time. She hasn't smoked since she told Junko she not only couldn't have a giraffe for a pet but that it was also physically impossible, and their daughter at the ripe age of eight, had screamed that she hated her mother and then stayed in her room until someone forced her out.]

More or less, I think. [Nariko doesn't have a fancy watch, rather just a tasteful one she bought herself a few months ago.] Another forty minutes. I say kick them out.

[She has absolutely no sympathy for any of these people and while Nathan doesn't either...]

[And for the first time in his life he wants space between himself and his sibling so. Deuces!]

Deal. [ A beat, and then it hits him! He socks Nathan very lightly in the shoulder and says, ] Tap out.

[ Because he'd been entertaining before now, now Nathan can end the night. He keeps a smile on his face as he allows Nariko to snuggle up to him as much as she might like... or not, if she doesn't, but he'll remain right up next to her as much as he wants thank you very much.

... You know that was a bummer back then. He'd had to be the one to get Junko out of her room, even if he was clumsy. He wonders if the girl remembered it ]

[Nathan gets the joke and even lights up a bit at that.

Nariko does in fact, snuggle. She leans in to kiss his collarbone, and can't help saying:] You two certainly cozied up to one another.

[She isn't jealous it's just ... Odd. It's good but it's odd and she's still kind of horny but it doesn't mix well with feeling rejected and weirdly abandoned. In the same moment she leans away just enough to comfortably look up at him.] Am I still attractive?

[Because for the first time in her life, even despite her age? She's kind of doubting it.]

[Also? Junko remembers that day and still feels horribly guilty about it.]

It's sad that I only just barely understand what any of that even meant. [She's a Pinterest gal.] ... But that is very sweet and technically answered my question.

[And, really, as long as Masaomi still finds her appealing then no one else's opinion even matters. Is her pride hurt? Absolutely. But in the end she'll get over it. But if Nathan wanted things to be normal then he'd certainly gotten his wish.]

[Masaomi .... But she gets distracted easily, and rather happily at this rate. Despite the fact that they're in a funeral home and her dead mother really isn't as far off as she should be - Nariko just outright kisses him, and there is more than just a hint of desperation in that action and her muddled scent.

But she does have to deal with that.] I mean, I was kind of trying to mess with him and it just - I don't know.

['Mess with him' kind of means 'flirt' in this instance and. It's probably not entirely outside Masaomi's ability to parse out.]

[ Full on kissing him? A little desperation? It's sad, but this is funeral so it's probably as hot as can be reasonably expected. The Alpha brushes his hands down her back and lingers close to her face. ... And no, it's not outside of it. Feeling in sync with her (in sync, and how good does that feel) he laughs and, ]
